A certified climate project combined with additional commitment
Our local forests are under increasing pressure: insect infestations, fungal diseases, and ever more frequent extreme weather events—such as heat, prolonged drought, and storms—are taking their toll. This became evident in 2020, when a storm severely devastated the Parco Regionale Campo dei Fiori in the Province of Varese (near Milan).
The protected area is a popular destination for outdoor recreation and provides habitat for plants and rare bird species. When forests like these are damaged on a large scale, it’s not only biodiversity that suffers: slopes can lose stability, increasing the risk of erosion and landslides.
This project supports the restoration of the affected forest areas in Campo dei Fiori. To do so, native broadleaf species such as beech and oak are planted and targeted protective measures are implemented, so that, over time, a stable, species-rich forest can develop again.
The nature conservation initiative is part of a combined project.
Companies investing in this project support both the restoration of the forest ecosystem and a certified international climate project – delivering double the impact. For every tonne of CO2 saved through the contribution via a certified climate project, a financial contribution will go towards restoring the Parco Regionale Campo dei Fiori.
Currently, the forest restoration is combined with a certified social impact project in India (climatepartner.com/1607). This project enables local women to purchase clean energy products such as solar lamps and water filters.
Combined climate project to date
Solar energy, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, India (climatepartner.com/1429).

Our additional commitment: a financial contribution for every tonne of carbon reduced
With our combined project, we combine verified emission reductions through a certified climate project with an additional commitment to regional nature conservation. European ecosystems are also affected by climate change. Our regional nature conservation initiatives are therefore committed to preserving or restoring natural habitats and adapting them to climatic changes.
Possible project activities include the protection and conversion of native forests, the conservation of animal and plant biodiversity, peatland restoration, or the conversion of agricultural land. The certified climate project is registered with international standards.
What’s a combined project?
With combined projects, ClimatePartner brings together funding for international, certified climate projects with additional support for nature conservation projects.
