This combined project contributes to the financing of a certified climate project while additionally supporting nature conservation in Germany. For every tonne of CO₂ saved through the certified climate project, a financial contribution is directed to the Mountain Forest Project in the Upper Allgäu. In this way, we enable a range of local activities such as tree planting, protective forest restoration, and habitat management.

The nature conservation project in Upper Allgäu is combined with a certified solar project in India (climatepartner.com/1429), which harnesses the power of the sun to generate renewable energy.

Combined climate projects to date:

“For nearly 30 years, the Mountain Forest Project has supported the Sonthofen Forest District in the Upper Allgäu region. Their work focuses on restoring and maintaining protective mountain forests — a crucial task to ensure that these forests can continue to fulfill their natural protective functions: preventing soil erosion, mitigating avalanches, and safeguarding water resources. Beyond their protective role, these mixed mountain forests also provide valuable habitats for rare species such as the capercaillie and black grouse.”

Our additional commitment: a financial contribution for every tonne of carbon reduced

With our combined project, we combine verified emission reductions through a certified climate project with an additional commitment to regional nature conservation. European ecosystems are also affected by climate change. Our regional nature conservation initiatives are therefore committed to preserving or restoring natural habitats and adapting them to climatic changes.

Possible project activities include the protection and conversion of native forests, the conservation of animal and plant biodiversity, peatland restoration, or the conversion of agricultural land. The certified climate project is registered with international standards.

Los proyectos climáticos suelen clasificarse en uno de estos tres grupos: reducción de carbono, captura de carbono o evitación de carbono. Los proyectos de reducción de carbono reducen la cantidad de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero producidas por una actividad específica (por ejemplo, cocinas eficientes). Los proyectos de captura de carbono retiran carbono de la atmósfera secuestrándolo en sumideros de carbono (por ejemplo, reforestación). Los proyectos de evitación de carbono evitan que las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero entren en la atmósfera (por ejemplo, protegiendo los bosques de la deforestación con proyectos REDD+).

Los proyectos climáticos reducen, eliminan o evitan de forma demostrable las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero. Esto se consigue con diversas tecnologías, desde soluciones basadas en la naturaleza hasta proyectos de impacto social y energías renovables.
